Everything to Know About 'Sex and the City' Revival 'And Just Like That'
Grab your cosmos! On January 10, Sarah Jessica Parker announced that an official Sex and the City revival is coming! The original series aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004, spanning 94 episodes during its six seasons. The show, which followed best friends Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) living in New York City, earned 54 Emmy nominations (winning seven) and 24 Golden Globe nods (winning eight). The show also led to two box-office hit movies. 2008’s Sex and the City grossed over $415 million worldwide. Despite being slammed by critics, 2010’s Sex and the City 2 brought in $294 million worldwide. While a script was created for a third movie, Cattrall decided she did not want to be part of it, and the movie was ultimately scrapped. Over the years, the Filthy Rich star has been vocal about being done with the franchise, even calling out Parker for being “cruel” in 2018. However, following the revival announcement, the Hocus Pocus actress weighed in on doing the new show without her, adding they she will miss her on set. When a fan wrote, “She didn’t tag Samantha Jones,” and another replied, “They dislike each other,” on Parker’s Instagram, she quickly responded. “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story, but she will always be a part of us,” she wrote via Instagram. “No matter where we are or what we do. X.” In 2019, Cattrall said she would “never” work on the franchise again during an interview with the Daily Mail. “You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun,” the Tell Me a Story alum said at the time. As for the new show, the SJP Collection designer voiced how excited she is about the new show and being back with the women. “[We’re] shooting it in a city that we love and hoping to be part of a city that’s able to support artists and culture and institutions that have been closed down and the businesses that have been hurt [during COVID-19],” she told TMZ in January 2021. Though there were a flurry of other main characters like Chris Noth’s Big and John Corbett’s Aiden, there are two in particular that are more important than any man who was featured on the show: New York City and fashion. Mastermind behind the wardrobe is costume designer Patricia Field. Instantly, she became a household name and a legendary staple of both the fashion and Hollywood industry. See Sarah Jessica Parker’s Red Carpet Style Evolution Read article “We were not doing fashion shows,” she told Fashionista back in 2018. “We were telling the stories and showcasing the characters through the way they dress. It’s a storytelling situation.” Field wasn’t the only one who felt strongly about fashion in this sense. Parker brought Field on after working with her on Miami Rhapsody in 1995. “Together, we were a great combination,” Field told the online publication. “She understood me, and the collaboration is what made Carrie so successful. She was very involved in a contributing way. It’s like, if you if you want to tango, you need a good partner to tango with.” Between the infamous naked dress and the newspaper print Dior, Carrie definitely stands out as the most fashion-loving character. After all, she is the one who skipped dinner to buy Vogue magazines because they “fed her more.” From Flashy Louboutin Pumps to Minimal Glamour, See the Style Evolution on ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ Read article With that being said, though, she isn’t the only one who had memorable fashion moments that are still part of the pop culture knowledge today. There’s Miranda’s bucket hat and hood combo, Charlotte’s shoe obsession that leads to a foot fetish and Samantha’s Birkin bag she tried to take from Lucy Liu. Though Samantha won’t be returning, we can’t wait to see how they bring back the other three women’s style in the new series. Sarah Isn't the First: Every Time 'Bachelor' Contestants Called for Medics
Jeff Probst may be the reality TV host most-accustomed to calling for medics, but sometimes Chris Harrison has to channel his inner Survivor host on The Bachelor. Back in 2013, Tierra LiCausi made headlines when she fell down the stairs — off-camera — during Sean Lowe’s season of The Bachelor. “I don’t know whether she’s hurt or not,” Catherine Giudici, who ended up with Sean, told ABC cameras during the episode. “I have no idea, but she popped up, and was like, ‘OK! Sean’s here!’ Maybe Sean is her magic potion.” Later on during the season, Tierra was taken back to the hotel in a wheelchair after a “Polar Bear Plunge” in Canada. This time, it wasn’t just the contestants questioning her motives. “She was whisked away by medics, and I honestly thought she was experiencing hypothermia. In hindsight, I’m not so sure. … but she played the part well,” Sean blogged about the episode at the time. Two years later, Kelsey Poe was accused of faking a panic attack to get season 19 Bachelor Chris Soules’ sympathy. “They believe that I had schemed against them, that I faked the panic attack, and I’m a condescending person,” Kelsey said during the season’s Women Tell All in 2015. “I just felt my arms collapse in front of me. It was such an emotional and tumultuous day. I can see in retrospect, (the other women) scratching their heads.” More recently, Sarah Trott fainted during a rose ceremony on Matt James’ season 25 of The Bachelor. “I think it was just some sort of a lightheaded spell. … You’re standing there for a long time, it can get nerve-wracking,” ABC executive Robert Mills said on the “Viall Files” podcast before acknowledging that Sarah already had a one-on-one date rose. “It’s ironic somebody who has a rose [but] it’s not the first time this has happened.” Scroll through for more Bachelor injuries over the years:
